Counseling Program Mission
My mission is to make sure that the safety and well being of all students is being met as equitable as possible. This will be done by ensuring that all students are receiving high quality, comprehensive school counseling services. My program is designed to help students grow both academically and socially so that they will become productive and responsible citizens in society.
A Comprehensive Counseling Program
Our comprehensive school counseling program is designed to serve students from grades Prekindergarten through 5th grade. The program collaborates with parents, teachers, and administrators to address academic achievement, career development, and personal/social skills This program is in accordance with the state standards Texas Administrative Code and the ASCA National Model There are four areas of service that are focused on. These are 1) Guidance and Curriculum 2) Responsive Services 3) Individual Planning and 4) System Support.

To fulfill the basic mission of the counseling program in Fort Worth schools we follow the American School Counselor National Model of practice. Program balance is established to guide the allocation of resources to each of the four following delivery systems:

School Guidance and Counseling, which is an interactive component of Coordinated School Health, is implemented by professional school counselors to reduce dropout rates, improve academic performance, and increase participation in postsecondary education.

My philosophy of school counseling includes building positive relationships with students all of backgrounds, having the desire to help all students, advocating for students' success both academically and socially, and collaborating with parents, teachers, and administrators. My goal is to empower students to achieve their highest potential. My school counseling program will be comprehensive in nature and centered on student needs. It will be based on all aspects of the students to help prepare them to become responsible and productive members of society.

A vocational school is an educational institution designed to provide technical skills required to perform the tasks of a particular and specific job. This website lists some of the most popular vocational schools in the Texas.

Special Programs
504 plans are designed for students who need support due to learning disabilities. Students with 504 plans are able to work and learn alongside their peers by removing barriers to learning. The plan outlines what the school will do to help the child be successful in school.
ARD meetings are designed for students who may meet the requirements for special education and need an IEP (Individualized Education Program). Teachers, other staff members, and parents develop an educational plan for each child.
Dyslexia is a learning disability that is specific to reading. It is the most common learning issue. Most children with dyslexia have trouble with reading comprehension and fluency.

Sylvan Learning is a place where parents can take their child to get help on homework or have a tailored tutoring session designed to meet the child's specific needs.

Brain Balance of Fort Worth lends its expertise to children who suffer academically, socially, or behaviorally. Each child gets a program designed to meet his/her own needs.
Key School of Fort Worth offers help to children who suffer from learning disabilities such as ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, and Dysgraphia.

Social Development at Burton Hill Elementary
Bullying Prevention, ELL students, and Internet Safety
Bullying is a common issue that happens on a lot of campuses. It is important for students to know what a bully is, signs they are being bullied, and what to do if it happens to them.
ELL (English Language Learner) students have become more common at our school and need some extra support to help not only them but their parents. This website give parents some ideas on how they can help their child at home.
In today's society the internet is a prevalent thing. It is important that we educate not only students, but parents on how to keep their kids safe on the internet.
